Welcome to

Portland School

It is my great pleasure to introduce you to Portland School. This is an exciting period in the history of the school. We achieved specialist status in science, Arts Mark and the Healthy Schools Award in 2007. We have now settled in to our new state of the art school building and opportunities for our students have never been better.

We are a caring but ambitious school. We are committed to providing the best for our students and getting the best from them. Their achievement is our first priority and we believe that all our children can be successful if given the right encouragement and opportunity.

In our most recent inspection, Ofsted reported: "Pupils are happy at school and relate well to each other, their teachers and other adults in the community. All pupils are treated fairly, which helps them to grow into responsible Young adults. Pupils are able to talk to staff about anything that worries them, for example bullying, knowing that they will be listened to and action will be taken."

Portland staff and governors believe that the children thrive in an orderly, safe and disciplined learning environment. We encourage   our students to respect themselves, each other and the world in which they live. We want them to develop tolerance and understanding through their school experiences – to become responsible citizens.
